Master’s Degree in Physical Education Study Program

The Physical Education master’s degree study program was established on October 21, 1993, based on the Higher Education Decree Number SK 598/DIKTI/Kep/1993. The rationales behind the establishment of the program include (1) providing access to people who have limited time to be able to develop their expertise in the educational and non-educational fields through further level of higher education, namely the master’s of Physical Education program at the Postgraduate Program, Jakarta State University; (2) optimizing the capacity and resources in the Postgraduate Physical Education study program of Jakarta State University in contributing to the improvement of human resources in Indonesia in the field of physical education; and (3) increasing the productivity of Jakarta State University Postgraduate Physical Education study program in contributing to the provision of physical education services to the community.

During its development, the number of students admitted varied from 20 to 60 students or an average of 40 students each year. Nevertheless, over time, the numbers have been increasing. Students of the Physical Education master’s degree study program come from the graduates of Sports Science, Physical Education, Sports Coaching Education, Recreational Sports, both from Jakarta State University and other universities in Indonesia.

Graduates of the Physical Education master’s program have competencies as educators, researchers, instructors, sports consultants, and sports managers. As an educator in the field of physical education, a graduate possesses competence to become an educator who has expertise in the field of physical education and is able to manage, lead and develop research in the field of physical education that is innovative and proven to solve relevant problems through interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches. As a researcher in physical education, a graduate can develop and carry out research in physical education to produce various perspectives. As an instructor in the field of physical education, a graduate can become an instructor who can apply sports training theory and produce outstanding athletes at the national and international levels by applying the concepts, principles, and scientific theories of sports recognized by the public at the national and international levels. As a sports consultant and sports manager in physical education, a graduate can become a consultant and manager who can build scientific arguments and solutions based on critical views of scientific facts, concepts, principles, or theories that can be empirically justified.

Realizing the Physical Education master’s program as a center for the development, research, education, and study of sports science and technology so that it becomes a “teaching institution” and “research institution” to meet the needs of Indonesian sports development so that it can compete competitively regionally and internationally

To contribute to the advancement of science, technology, and arts through the implementation of the Tridharma in higher education in the Physical Education master’s degree program so that it contributes to the development of Indonesia and the global community

To produce quality human resources with the competence as follows:

  • to be able to develop knowledge in physical education through research in order to develop knowledge, perspective, and tested technology;
  • to be able to conduct research in various fields of physical education through interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches; and
  • to be able to manage and conduct research in the field of physical education that meets the national and international standards.
  • Educator who masters the field of physical education and can manage, lead, and conduct innovative and tested research to solve problems in physical education through interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches;
  • Researcher who can manage and conduct physical education research to produce solutions to problems in various perspectives
  • Instructor who can apply the theory of sports training and produce outstanding athletes at the national and international levels by applying the concepts, principles, and scientific theories of sports recognized by the community at the national and international levels
  • Sports consultant and manager who can build scientific arguments and solutions based on a critical view of scientific facts, concepts, principles, or theories can be empirically justified
  • Able to develop pedagogy theory, literacy, benefits of information technology in physical education and sports science by practicing as a developer of physical education and sports science to produce solutions in improving the quality of physical health education and sports science for human benefit through an interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary approach;
  • Able to apply logical, critical, systematic, and innovative thinking in the field of physical education by practicing as a developer of sports education and training and health education, fitness with his practice as an expert, educator, and coach of sports science and education as well as training in the field of social sensitivity and concern for the community and
  • Able to solve physical education problems based on pedagogy theory, literacy, information technology by practicing as a sports science coach and rationing through scientific methods with an interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary approach based on academic values, norms, and ethics;
  • Able to implement problem solutions Education technology that suits the needs of the development of sports science and rationing through proven research and novelty and gaining recognition at the national and international level;
  • Able to apply innovative learning by applying concepts and principles of didactic-pedagogical in sports science and physical education by utilizing Master’s Course Curriculum of Science;
  • Able to apply professionalism sustainably in the field of sports science and physical education by researching an effort to improve digital literacy;
  • Able to understand the results of research and development in sports science and rationing is current with an inter and multi-disciplinary approach recognized at the national and international
